About The Future Wisconsin Project

Addressing our state’s long-term systemic, economic challenges

Future Wisconsin Project

About Us

What will Wisconsin look like in 20 years? What will our workforce look like? What sort of businesses will thrive in our economy? How will our tech colleges and universities stack up to those in other states? What sort of jobs will be available? Will we have enough people to fill the jobs? The WMC Foundation is working with public and private partners to identify, answer and be prepared for the outcome of those questions.

WMC Foundation’s Future Wisconsin Project addresses our state’s long-term systemic, economic challenges. With partner representation from business, government and education, this program seeks to bring all stakeholders of the economy to the table to develop solutions we can all implement.

Highlights

The Future Wisconsin Project, a program of WMC Foundation, addresses our state’s long-term systemic, economic challenges. With partner representation from business, government and education, this program seeks to bring all stakeholders of the economy to the table to develop solutions we can all implement. WMC Foundation’s research is formally presented and complemented at the Future Wisconsin Executive Retreat, held at the end of each year.

Wisconsin faces a shrinking population, a labor market that’s failing to grow, burdensome regulations, lagging educational performance, soaring health care costs, and a tax climate that weighs heavily on families and employers alike. These pressures do not exist in isolation. They are making Wisconsin increasingly unaffordable for working families who are already struggling to make ends meet.

The Steering Committee is a group of members that drive the direction of the Future Wisconsin Project and its events.

Research & Impact

WMC Foundation’s The Future Wisconsin Project is a long-term strategic plan for Wisconsin aimed at creating sustained economic growth. Throughout the lifetime of the project, WMC Foundation has conducted research amongst Wisconsin employers, educators and government leaders to identify the greatest challenges facing Wisconsin’s economy, and solutions to drive the state forward.

Wisconsin faces a shrinking population, a labor market that’s failing to grow, burdensome regulations, lagging educational performance, soaring health care costs, and a tax climate that weighs heavily on families and employers alike — all of which jeopardize the long-term strength of our state. These pressures do not exist in isolation. They are making Wisconsin increasingly unaffordable for working families
who are already struggling to make ends meet.

WMC Foundation’s latest research project, the Wisconsin Competitiveness Report addresses the issues currently crippling our state and sets the roadmap to save Wisconsin.
